Senior Housekeeper or Governess — two different transitions, one page.

These profiles are grouped by tradition, but the transition arguments are completely different. Read the one that describes your daily work — not both.

What this role already does that private aviation values

Recognised from day one.

  • SENIOR HOUSEKEEPER — high-end execution inside a private home, alone, no team above or below, bespoke standards held over years. Directly transferable to cabin preparation and turn-around.
  • SENIOR HOUSEKEEPER — care of delicate materials (silverware, linen, textiles, valuable pieces) at UHNW-level; stock and consumables management directly reusable onboard.
  • GOVERNESS — routines, homework, activities, sometimes a language or teaching dimension, held for years for the same family. Operators handling family flights with children value this immediately.
  • BOTH — absolute discretion about what is seen and heard inside a private space, over years. In private aviation this is not a preference — it is a licence to keep working.
What this role has never had to do

The gap, named honestly.

  • The housekeeper has no table service, no catering handling, no extended one-on-one guest-facing service — the gap to close head-on, not soften. Positioning argument: cabin presentation, pre-flight preparation, ruthless attention to detail.
  • The governess is not, in most operator lists, a standard FA candidate. Her clear angle is family flights with children — where her value is immediate and rare in current cabin hiring.
  • For both: no cabin safety exposure, no galley technique, no operator-scale catering discipline. All to be learned deliberately.
  • The relational envelope shifts: from long-term family trust (governess) or purely functional invisibility (housekeeper) to a mixed footing where the principal is three metres away for hours.
What this transition looks like, realistically

Housekeepers take longer than any other hospitality profile in this family — six to nine months is honest — because the CV work is heavier and applications need to be tightly targeted. Governesses can transition faster if they apply to operators or family offices whose principals fly with children — a smaller list, but a much sharper argument.

Note — The family-flights-with-children angle is a real hiring argument, but only with operators known to fly principals with children onboard. Targeting matters more than volume for this profile.
